A new generation of subsea roboticsBlueprint Lab has set out to make the smallest, all-electric subsea-rated actuators available in the world and succeeded. Filling a capability gap for users of portable Remotely Operated Vehicles, they have enabled a variety of subsea tasks to be conducted that were previously reserved for larger underwater vehicles. In addition to being small, their products are modular allowing for users to configure their robotic arm in a way that best suits their task.

Customers include scientists wanting to further their research in underwater robotics, military organisations doing work in mine defusing, and service providers for the oil and gas industry conducting pipe and tank inspections.

The close similarities between the deep sea and deep space make their products an ideal testing platform for space-based applications.

CUAVA

CuavaThe ARC Training Centre for Cubesats, Uavs & their Applications (CUAVA)  is funded by the Australian Research Council and works with industry partners to train the next generation of workers in advanced manufacturing, commercial space and Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) applications.  In doing so they aim to develop new instruments and technology to solve crucial problems, and develop a world-class Australian industry in CubeSats, UAVs, and related products.

CubeSats are a new class of small satellites, which with Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are disrupting the international satellite market. These have great commercial value, and have very low costs, making space more accessible than ever before.

CUAVA aim to fundamentally change the capabilities and Cuava PhDapplications of CubeSats, UAVs, and their instruments (plus those for larger satellites) for Earth observations, GPS, satellite communications, and space weather purposes; and progress these devices to create a major commercial value with wide applications across these and other areas.

FluroSat

FluroSat

FluroSat is a crop health solutions provider that delivers early, accurate, and actionable information on farm performance and plant nutrition to farmers and agronomists. Through its analytics engine, FluroSense, it applies a combination of agricultural science, machine learning algorithms, and integrated scientific crop models to data gathered from farm records, machinery and in-field tests and contextualised remote sensing imagery. These data sets are then turned into predictive information and insights to support ease of analysis and key agronomic decisions that can address location-specific variations or issues across crops and regions.

HEO Robotics

HEO Robotics combines swarm technology with nanosatellites to acquire high quality imagery of satellites, space-debris and resource-rich asteroids. HEO Robotics has a long-term vision of prospecting asteroids in Earth-Moon system and an immediate goal of using the same technology for asset management in both LEO and GEO.

Saber Astronautics aim to reduce the barriers to entry to space and provide space operations software and does mission control services. Saber’s founders have engineered legacy projects ranging from the Hubble Space Telescope and International Space Station to satellite swarms. Their employees include senior operators from US Army and Air Force Space Command and PhD graduates from world class field robotics laboratories.

NSW space capabilities

Space Ops Australia is a space technology company based in Sydney, Australia. Our mission is to enable space launch capability in the southern hemisphere and to make space accessible for all.

We are offering microgravity launch services on high power rockets to drive microgravity research and manufacturing. Using reliable launch technologies and safe recovery systems, we provide longer free fall durations than drop towers without the long mission preparations and wait times for missions to the space station. Our flights occur in rural New South Wales with fast transport to and from Sydney enabling international customers to return mission results and product sooner.

Our second offering is in the educational space. We see a need to provide low cost space-themed educational hardware to inspire the next generation of students. Using well known microcontrollers including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and Micro:bit, we have developed a low cost satellite simulation curriculum to lets students be Mission Control as they build a sensing satellite to then launch on a model rocket. This is a unique program enabling students to see the full spectrum of space engineering from concept, build, flight and data analysis.
